alvis-43-litre-tourerMANY OF YOU WILL BE AWARE OF MY LOVE OF CLASSIC CARS AND I WAS MOST EXCITED TO HEAR RECENTLY THAT A BRITISH CAR COMPANY, ALVIS, WAS MAKING A COMEBACK WITH THE LAUNCH OF A CARBON-COPY OF A MODEL THAT WAS FIRST LAUNCHED IN 1938.

The newly formed Alvis Car Company has launched the new Alvis 4.3-litre tourer, an exact creation of the 1938 model, using modern technology to build a car that is based on the original technical drawings. It is a four seater convertible with a hood that folds down behind the seats. The engine features four-speed manual transmission and the only difference from the original engine is the addition of fuel injection.

The plan is to build two or three vehicles a year costing around £180,000 each. The original Alvis, based in Coventry where the new cars will also be built sold expensive high quality vehicles from the 1920s through to 1967. In a week when there has been a focus on all things British with the stunning spectacle of the Royal Wedding in London it is good to see famous name from Britain’s motoring history making a comeback. I hope it’s a great success.
