3.8 E-Type Roadster
THE BRITISH DESIGNED AND MADE E-TYPE JAGUAR, WHICH ENZO FERRARI CALLED “THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CAR IN THE WORLD”, CELEBRATES ITS 50th ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR.

The 150mph sports car made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961 and enjoyed a 14-year production run that ended in 1975. To commemorate the passing of 50 years Jaguar has arranged a series of events in 2011. They include the commissioning of a book “E-Type:50 Years Of A Design Icon”, which will include a strictly limited edition of 399 copies that will be foil-blocked and bound in a specially commissioned reproduction of the original upholstery leather.

Also later this month, a fleet of 50 E-Types will be driven from London to Geneva to fittingly coincide with the start of this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Enzo Ferrari was clearly not the only person who admired the sleek looks of this classic thoroughbred. In 2008 the E-Type was voted number one in the UK Daily Telegraph’s list of the “100 Most Beautiful Cars” of all time, whilst the car is also on permanent exhibit at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. It truly is a design classic.
