I HAVE JUST SPENT A VERY BRIEF BUT ENJOYABLE FEW DAYS IN THE UK CATCHING UP WITH FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES AND TRADE CONTACTS. A DAY IN LONDON, IN AND AROUND SAVILE ROW, FOLLOWED BY A WEEKEND IN THE SURREY HILLS AREA 50 MINUTES SOUTH OF LONDON.
Had Sunday lunch at a very traditional English pub, the King William IV near Albury in Surrey. Flagstone floors and a huge open fireplace, which was very welcome on a freezing cold day. My new bespoke tweed car coat certainly came in useful. The traditional Sunday roast featured free range pork reared by the pub landlord washed down with a couple of pints of Shere Drop from the local Surrey Hills Brewery. Highly recommended.
A few days in Europe to follow, then a flight back to Sydney and hopefully some summer sunshine.
Born in 1949 and christened John Handel Lawson Cutler, I am the fourth generation of my family to take up the tailor's shears. I joined the family business straight from school at 16 years of age. Even before then I had always shown a very keen interest in bespoke tailoring and shirt making.
