I HAVE RECENTLY COMPLETED A NEW BESPOKE OUTFIT THAT I HAVE TO ADMIT I AM VERY FOND OF INDEED.
I consists of a black single breasted two button three piece bespoke suit from J. H. Cutler, a striped bespoke shirt with white collar again from J. H. Cutler, a spotted Stefano Ricci tie and bespoke shoes with suede inserts from Stefano Bemer in Florence, all topped off by a soft bowler hat. The ensemble is completed by a silver topped ebony walking cane from my personal collection.
In in all it makes me feel like “a million dollars”, but the various components can be purchased from my discreet, private premises on the 6th floor of 12 O’Connell Street in the heart of Sydney’s CBD for considerably less than that.
I AM VERY EXCITED TO CURRENTLY BE WORKING ON A NEW BESPOKE VICUNA OVERCOAT FOR ONE OF MY OVERSEAS CLIENTS.
The Vicuna fabric comes from Dormeuil, whilst the silk lining has been sourced from Hermes. As was the case with another overcoat I made a few years ago this coat is being made entirely by hand and will include similar top quality finishes and detailing as the earlier project. I expect the final price to be approximately US$75,000.
Vicuna comes from an animal of the same name that roams the High Andes in South America at altitudes above 4,000 meters. At only 12 microns in diameter it is the finest fibre that is capable of being spun and was known as the “Fabric of the Gods” by the Incas. It is softer finer and warmer than any other wool.
I look forward to showing you some pictures of the finished garment in the very near future.

Born in 1949 and christened John Handel Lawson Cutler, I am the fourth generation of my family to take up the tailor's shears. I joined the family business straight from school at 16 years of age. Even before then I had always shown a very keen interest in bespoke tailoring and shirt making.
