IN THE UK TWEED HAS BEEN USED IN A VERY NON-TRADITIONAL WAY WITH THE LAUNCH OF A LIMITED COLLECTION OF TRAINERS BY CONVERSE.
The traditional woollen fabric that is more often seen at a weekend in the country will now be gracing city streets in a range that includes classic high-tops featuring vibrant pink and red tones, as well as lo-tops in more muted greens and greys.
The range has been produced in collaboration with the London-based textile company Dashing Tweeds who quite incidentally I have recently ordered a length of fantastic tweed fabric from for a suit that I am designing and making for myself here at J. H. Cutler.
Born in 1949 and christened John Handel Lawson Cutler, I am the fourth generation of my family to take up the tailor's shears. I joined the family business straight from school at 16 years of age. Even before then I had always shown a very keen interest in bespoke tailoring and shirt making.
